The Dublin International Piano Competition quickly established an enviable
reputation for excellence and is now widely regarded as one of the top five
classical music competitions in the world. Past winners have made their mark
on concert stages everywhere, enjoying successful solo performance careers.
Over the years supporters known as Competition Friends have contributed more
than €1,000,000, money which has been used to enhance the winners musical
experience and to provide opportunities for young Irish pianists to reach
the standards of their international peers.
Next year, 2012, marks the 25th anniversary of the Dublin International
Piano Competition and, coincidentally, the 50th birthday of the very first
winner Philippe Cassard. Philippe has always acknowledged the impact that
the Dublin win had on his career and has remained a dedicated ambassador for
the event.
