Last December, following the exceptional standard of the participants and in an unusual move, six talented young pianists were selected to take part in the next William Finlay Programme for Gifted Young Pianists 2017-2018.
Breaking with tradition since the foundation of the programme in 2010, where four promising pianists have been chosen for each Competition cycle, the three renowned adjudicators (John O’Conor, Finghin Collins and Seamus Crimmins) chose six from the 12 applicants such was the standard of performance and interview.

The young pianists had a great experience on the day, mostly appreciating the behind-the-scenes glimpses of performance life during the rehearsals access.
