Fiachra Garvey started his piano studies at the age of six, with Elizabeth Leonard at the Leeson Park School of Music. In 1999, with Therese Fahy as his teacher, he moved to the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where he had gained an Entrance Scholarship. In 2008, Fiachra was awarded a 1st class Honours Diploma in Music (performance and teaching) from the RIAM. With Dr John O`Conor as one of his teachers, he is currently in his 2nd year of a BA degree in Performance.
He is a multiple prize-winner, with many awards at Feis Ceoil, RIAM Festival, Newpark Festival, and Feis Arklow.
Fiachra`s solo appearances include the National Concert Hall, National Gallery of Ireland, the Mansion House in Dublin, Marlfield House, St. Anne`s Church, Calary Church, the Irish Polish Society, RTE Television and Erin Arts Centre (Isle of Man).
As a keen participant in chamber music, he has performed as part of a duo, a trio, a quartet, and a quintet, appearing at the Bantry Chamber Music Festival and Kilkenny Arts Festival, amongst others.
His orchestral engagements include appearances with the Dublin Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hibernian Orchestra, RIAM Intermediate Orchestra and the RIAM Symphony Orchestra.
In 2007/2008, Fiachra took part in the Fullbright Commission`s Fusion Exchange Program taking masterclasses in the USA. He subsequently performed in Boston, Washington, New York and at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
He has participated in masterclasses with many distinguished international pianists including Pascal Roge, Philippe Cassard, Christopher Elton, Pavel Nersessian, Finghin Collins, Barry Snyder, Daejin Kim, Mikael Eliason, Ronan O`Hora, Roy Howat and Antti Siirala.
